We have worked with Ghost Orchid Bride on numerous occasions. They are one of the very best bridal gown suppliers in the whole of Yorkshire. So we are delighted to recommend them to anyone looking for their perfect wedding dress. Kate told us: “Working with M and G Wedding Photography has been a blast and the images I have from their shoots are to die for”. The feeling is definitely mutual – we get excited whenever we know one of our brides has shopped at Ghost Orchid! Ghost Orchid don’t do run of the mill or ordinary – every dress they stock really is beautiful. Recently owner Kate talked to us all about why she loves supplying amazing bridal gowns to brides looking for something “a little less traditional”. You’ll find Kate’s interview below alongside some examples of our time working with Ghost Orchid. The images are from a shoot Ghost Orchid invited us to photograph for them – the shoot features Zara and Alex, a real life couple whose wedding we also photographed!

Contemporary and beautiful wedding dresses

“I have known I wanted to work with wedding dresses ever since I could draw and spent hours designing clothes. I did begin the fashion design journey but ended up on another path. It just felt like the right time personally to return to my original plans and from a business perspective it made sense too as we bridged a gap in the market for brides wanting something a little less traditional.

The best thing about the wedding industry

There really are so many things I love about working in the wedding industry. I adore being around such luxury dresses that in most other areas of fashion you don’t get. It’s also amazing being a small part of helping brides visions come to life and often get a bit emotional seeing the images from their day! The thing I think I enjoy the most though is being part of a rare female dominated industry, it feels like a bit of a sisterhood and it can be really inspiring being around strong, determined, creative people.

Favourite wedding memories

We cover the whole of the UK and beyond and have people travel to us from literally all over. We now also sell our samples from our website so the market is endless. I don’t think I have a favourite wedding that I’ve been part of, they’re all so beautiful in their own way. A couple do immediately spring to mind though, Kiri and Justin were a really cool couple who had a romantic Baz Lurman’s Romeo and Juliet inspired wedding at Asylum in London followed by dancing and tequila at the local pub. I also think of Brit and Joe who got married in the Neon Museum in Vegas and went on for Pizza in a cute little italian restaurant.

Top wedding tips

A tip I would give is to stay true to your heart and trust your instincts. Sure, you want everyone to have an amazing time because you care about them and care about sharing your journey with them but remember you can’t please everyone so stick to your guns and try not to get involved in the politics. Also….do not leave dress shopping till last minute! You need to be ordering a year to 8 months before your wedding.

Favourite wedding venues

There’s so many great venues right now it’s hard to choose just a few. I love Healing Manor, Middleton Lodge, Oaklands Grand Lodge, The Highfield House, Aslyum Chapel, Soho House, Willerby Barn, The Beverley Barn, The Barns at East Yorkshire. The list really could go on and on!

Individual styles and unique looks

I think brides coming to Ghost Orchid get a more personal experience and a more individual look. We are all about listening to what the bride wants and supporting her to explore her own unique style so that on the day she feels completely herself and comfortable.”
